A gig’s a gig, yeah?
The Woodman in Outwood was heaving when we arrived, fresh from the RLR praccy room and ready to go.
A covers band had just started their set, and the bank holiday crowd were getting as well oiled as you’d expect. For this beer festival bands were playing on the back of a lorry, which was cool, and otherwise the set up was fine. An hour and a half later the covers band wrapped up, and as the sun came out for the first time that afternoon we took to the stage.
To almost universal indifference.
I think there was a bloke in a white t-shirt who may have looked over his shoulder mid way through the set, but then again that could just have been a trick of the light.
Lesson learnt : beer festivals want to hear covers, not original material. Our half hour done we packed up and headed for Doncaster for the second festival of the day…
